FGLI students may be eligible for funding for a summer internship and/or research opportunities that are unpaid, low paying, or requiring travel to and lodging in costly cities. Deadlines and eligibility vary by program, which may provide some or all funds necessary for a student to accept the position.
Please consult early in your summer planning process with Student Financial Services, as students who want to pursue low-paid or unpaid internships or research opportunities may be eligible for a Summer Waiver Award to relieve them of expected
Career Services also has limited funds to provide summer experience grants of up to $3,000. The application deadline is in March each academic year.
Career Services also can help students find internships and permanent positions. Counselors are available to help students define their goals, learn about opportunities, prepare for interviews, and more. Career Services also offers resources on business etiquette.
The FGLI Program and Career Services have partnered with the local nonprofit Career Wardrobe to increase accessibility to professional attire for FGLI students. Any undergraduate, graduate or professional student may receive one complete professional outfit suitable for networking, interviews, and work opportunities. Students should email Anne Marie Gercke at Career Services (firstname.lastname@example.org) to indicate interest and FGLI affiliation. Students will receive instructions on how to schedule an appointment to visit the Career Wardrobe.
Graduate School Entrance Assistance
Career Services can also assist students who are in need of financial assistance to take graduate school entrance exams providing contacts for Law School LSAC fee waivers, the GRE Fee Reduction Program, the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program, and the AAMC Fee Assistance Program for the MCAT and AMCAS.
